This week in the Kinder Room the children are creating a family tree. A family tree is a starting point to developing a curriculum built around children’s identities, their relationships with family and community and the interests.
The children are helping the educators to create the tree. The next step once it’s put together is to paint it, which the children are excited about.
The families are starting to bring in photos which will be added to the tree, where the children will be able to see the different members in their family and their friends families. They will be able to have conversations with their peers about the different members in their families.
The children in the room will be learning about the different family members that make up everyone’s family, and will discuss why not everyones family looks the same.
