Our New Childcare Centre in Mambourin is Now Open!

Childcare Mambourin educators

After a successful (and very busy!) Open Day, our Child’s Play Mambourin centre is now open!

With eight beautiful rooms, a passionate local team, and a curriculum grounded in the belief that Every Child Matters, our Mambourin childcare centre is a space where curiosity, confidence, and community all grow together.

Inside our Mambourin childcare centre

Our Mambourin early-learning centre has eight purpose-built rooms that are designed to feel just like home. Our nursery, toddler, and kinder rooms are filled with warm timber furniture, natural light, and soft colours to help our little ones feel calm and ready to explore from the moment they arrive.

Among the centre’s most loved features are:

  • Our mini supermarket, where children can pretend to shop for groceries and learn about numbers, money, and cooperation through real-world play.
  • The construction corner, filled with tools, blocks, and toys for building, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
  • The community library, a quiet corner for children to come and spend a quiet moment reading, and where families can join in events like Book Week and Science Week.
  • The dining hall, a shared space with long tables where children can learn to make their own snacks and enjoy them together.

‘Parents absolutely love the dining area,’ says Harshpreet, Assistant Director at Child’s Play Mambourin. ‘We’ll do cooking experiences where some of the older children can spend time with our chef and make finger food for their afternoon tea.’

How we learn at Child’s Play Mambourin

Just like our other childcare centres, Child’s Play in Mambourin follows the Early Years Learning Framework

Our education is also inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, where children’s learning is directed by their interests and curiosity, and is assisted by both their educators and their environment.

Teena, Centre Director at Child’s Play Mambourin, says, ‘Our program supports every child’s growth holistically, not just in one area. Our children have choices: indoor or outdoor play, progressive meals, one-on-one time with educators. We respect what they want to do and how they want to learn.’

Our curriculum in action

At Child’s Play in Mambourin, you’ll find activities prepared to fit the seven areas of our curriculum:

  • Creative Arts – dance, painting, and music woven through daily routines.
  • Science & technology – sensory play and early experiments that encourage questioning.
  • Child-Led Routine – educators let children’s curiosity and passion direct their learning.
  • Foundations of learning – numeracy, literacy, and school readiness are introduced through games, stories, and experiences that simulate daily life (like play-shopping and construction).
  • Planning & Design  – planning, building, and problem-solving to discover how imagination and teamwork bring their ideas to life.
  • Children Within Natureoutdoor play and gardening experiences (including veggie gardening) where children learn to care for plants, animals, and the environment.
  • We Are the World – celebrating culture and community through learning about society, diversity, and First Nations perspectives.

‘Our curriculum areas connect across all the spaces,’ says Teena. ‘Art isn’t limited to the art tables; art might happen in the home corner or the construction space. Their learning can happen anywhere, in ways that feel meaningful to them.’

Nutritious mealtimes that feel like home

At Child’s Play Mambourin, just like our other childcare centres, our in-house chefs prepare fresh, balanced meals every day. The rotating seasonal menu includes favourites like Thai beef noodle salad, crumbed fish with vegetables, veggie korma curry and plenty of fruit and homemade snacks.

Our meals are created by our head chef, Fawzia, who brings years of experience and a love of introducing children to new flavours. Children are encouraged to grab a snack when they feel hungry, helping them build healthy, mindful eating habits from an early age. Mealtimes are relaxed and social, giving children the chance to try new foods and chat with new friends.
